The Voices of San Anto is a bi-lingual storytelling series created and put on by Gemini Ink in collaboration with the Latino Collection and Resource Center at the San Antonio Public Library.

Andres Montez "Fat Gumbo Lee"

Andres Montez, AKA 'Fat Gumbo Lee", is a San Antonio jazz musician and percussionist. He graduated from St. Mary's University and was the 2021 AJAM ISAJ Winner (Alan Jones Academy of Music). He plays in various venues around San Antonio with his jazz collective. 
 
Andres spoke to Empower House Radio about the jazz scene in San Antonio and the support he received coming up through high school, college and even now. He names some of the big jazz musicians here in San Antonio and the importance of older generations imparting their knowledge and supporting the younger generations to keep jazz alive and continue to grow support for the scene in the city.
